Polyus asks for state support for bridge across Yenisei River

KRASNOYARSK, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- Russian gold producer Polyus has asked the government for support in construction of a bridge across the Yenisei River, Vice President Sergei Zhuravlyov said on Friday during the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.

The bulk of gold reserves of the region is located on the right bank of the river, where reserves of antimony, zinc, lead, and magnesite are also located. Their production is restrained by the lack of transport, and local producers have to suspend cargo traffic for up to three months while the river is frozen, he said.

Construction of the bridge near the Vysokogorsky locality of the Krasnoyarsk Region could save up to 1 billion rubles of annual logistics costs and free even more money for investment into upgrading existing projects in the region, he said.
